Things to do in Tambaram & GST Road

Tambaram and the suburbs along GST Road form Chennai's southern gateway. The main draw is Arignar Anna Zoological Park at Vandalur, about 32 km from the city centre: at 602 hectares it is one of the largest zoos in India, with a lion safari and a deer park, open 8:30 am to 5:30 pm and closed on Tuesdays. Madras Christian College's wooded campus in Tambaram hosts student festivals, and wedding halls and school grounds along GST Road take community fairs, expos and festival events. The long-distance bus terminus at Kilambakkam is nearby. Suburban trains from Chennai Beach and Egmore stop at Chromepet, Tambaram and Vandalur.
