Things to do in Royapettah

Royapettah sits between Anna Salai and Mylapore and is central Chennai's film-and-mall district. Express Avenue on Whites Road, opened in 2010, has six atria that host festive displays, brand launches and children's carnivals, plus the eight-screen PVR Escape. A short walk away, the six-screen PVR Sathyam complex is the city's best-known cinema for premieres, audio launches and film-festival screenings. Older lanes around the Royapettah clock tower hold biryani shops and small halls used for community events. Buses along Anna Salai and Royapettah High Road are frequent; LIC and Thousand Lights metro stations are each a little over a kilometre away.
