Things to do in Egmore

Egmore is where colonial-era Madras put its museum, library and railway terminus, and all three still shape what happens here. The Government Museum on Pantheon Road, at this site since 1854, shares its campus with the Connemara Public Library and the Museum Theatre, an 1896 Italianate hall with semi-circular tiered seating that is rented out for English and Tamil plays, concerts and school productions. The Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium on Marshalls Road is the city's international hockey venue. Hotels around the station host trade exhibitions and craft sales. Egmore has a Green Line metro station beside the railway terminus, one stop from Chennai Central.
