Things to do in Nungambakkam

Nungambakkam is Chennai's main address for dining, bars and foreign cultural centres. Khader Nawaz Khan Road and the lanes off Nungambakkam High Road hold boutiques, restaurants and late-evening bars; ticketing sites list Hard Rock Cafe's live gigs and several club nights here. The Alliance Française of Madras on College Road and the Goethe-Institut on Rutland Gate programme films, exhibitions, plays and concerts, many of them free. The SDAT Tennis Stadium in the Lake Area hosts the Chennai Open WTA 250 each autumn, and Valluvar Kottam, the 1976 memorial to the poet Thiruvalluvar, marks the western edge. Nungambakkam suburban station serves the stadium side.
