Things to do in Vadapalani & Kodambakkam

Vadapalani and Kodambakkam are the home of the Tamil film industry, which takes its nickname, Kollywood, from Kodambakkam. Studios, dubbing theatres and preview halls sit along Arcot Road, and small studio rooms in Kodambakkam now double as stand-up comedy venues on weekends. Nexus Vijaya Mall, formerly Forum Vijaya Mall, stands beside Vadapalani metro station with a nine-screen PVR and an IMAX, and its atrium takes film promotions and festive events. The Vadapalani Murugan Temple is among the city's busiest, especially on Thai Poosam and Panguni Uthiram. Since 11 October 2026 Vadapalani is also the interchange for the Yellow Line towards Porur and Poonamallee.
