Things to do in Porur & Poonamallee

Porur and Poonamallee, on Chennai's western edge, joined the metro map on 11 October 2026, when the first stretch of Phase 2 opened: the Yellow Line from Poonamallee Bypass to Vadapalani, with stations at Porur Junction, Porur Bypass, Iyyapanthangal, Kattupakkam and Poonamallee among others, and an interchange with the Green Line at Vadapalani. The area is mostly residential and office-led, around the DLF IT park at Ramapuram and the hospitals on Mount–Poonamallee Road. Its events are local: restaurant-lounge music nights, Tamil retro and film-music evenings, open mics in rooftop cafés, apartment-community festivals and school fairs.
