About Phoenix Marketcity, Chennai
Phoenix Marketcity on Velachery Main Road is south Chennai's largest mall and one of its busiest event venues. Developed by Phoenix Mills with Crest Ventures and designed by the architecture firm Benoy, it opened in January 2013 with about a million square feet of floor area over four levels and more than 260 stores. Its 11-screen multiplex includes the city's first IMAX screen. Palladium, an adjoining luxury wing with about 86 stores, shares the compound. The mall's courtyard and atria are used for concerts, stand-up shows, product launches, flea markets, children's workshops, festive installations at Deepavali, Christmas and Pongal, and New Year's Eve countdowns. Ticketed shows here are sold through the usual online platforms; most atrium events are free.
