About SDAT Tennis Stadium, Nungambakkam

The SDAT Tennis Stadium in Nungambakkam is India's best-known tennis venue. Built in 1995 and owned by the Government of Tamil Nadu through the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, it has five hard courts, including a floodlit centre court that seats about 5,800. It hosted the ATP Chennai Open every January from 1997 to 2017, when the tournament moved to Pune. Top-level tennis returned in 2022 with the WTA 250 Chennai Open. The third edition of that tournament is scheduled for 2–8 November 2026, organised by the Tamil Nadu Tennis Association and SDAT, with a 32-player singles draw and, for the first time, electronic line calling on all three match courts. The stadium also hosts national-level and junior tournaments.
