About Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Chennai

The Goethe-Institut, known across India as Max Mueller Bhavan, is Germany's cultural institute, and its Chennai centre sits on a quiet lane at Rutland Gate, off Khader Nawaz Khan Road in Nungambakkam. Alongside German-language courses and a library, it programmes film screenings, exhibitions, concerts, theatre and dance collaborations, artist talks and workshops, most of them free or low-priced and open to the public on registration. It is a founding partner of the Chennai Photo Biennale, which is run with the CPB Foundation and spreads photography exhibitions across public venues in the city, and it regularly co-hosts events with local film societies, music collectives and colleges. Seating is limited, so popular screenings and talks fill quickly.
