About M. A. Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk)

M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, universally called Chepauk, is Chennai's international cricket ground and the home of Chennai Super Kings. Established in 1916 and owned by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, it hosted its first Test in February 1934 and was the scene of India's first Test win, against England in 1952, and the tied Test against Australia in 1986. A reconstruction before the 2011 World Cup added three stands; a further rebuild, with a new stand inaugurated in March 2023, took capacity to about 38,000. It has staged IPL finals in 2011, 2012 and 2024, matches at the 2023 World Cup and seven games of the 2026 Men's T20 World Cup. The ground sits between Wallajah Road, Bells Road and Victoria Hostel Road, a few minutes from Marina Beach.
