M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, universally called Chepauk, is Chennai's international cricket ground and the home of Chennai Super Kings. Established in 1916 and owned by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, it hosted its first Test in February 1934 and was the scene of India's first Test win, against England in 1952, and the tied Test against Australia in 1986. Check your ticket for the stand and gate before you leave. The gates open onto different roads (Wallajah Road, Bells Road and Victoria Hostel Road) and walking around the ground on a match night is slow.
Take the train. Chepauk MRTS station is next to the ground and Government Estate metro is about a kilometre away. In recent IPL seasons Chennai Metro has run late services on match nights and CSK match tickets have doubled as metro tickets; confirm the current arrangement before you travel.
Roads around the stadium are closed or diverted on match days and there is no public parking at the ground, so do not plan to drive to the gate.
