Valentine's Day 2027 in Chennai: Events & Date Ideas
2 events matching right now across Chennai — mostly workshop (2).
Valentine's Day 2027 falls on Sunday 14 February, so most of Chennai's celebrations will be spread over the weekend of 12–14 February, at the end of a Valentine's week that begins with Rose Day on 7 February. Mid-February is one of the most comfortable times of year in the city, dry and not yet hot, which makes outdoor plans realistic. Hotels on Anna Salai, in Guindy and at MRC Nagar sell candlelight dinners and set menus; restaurants in Nungambakkam, Alwarpet and on Khader Nawaz Khan Road run tasting menus; and beach-facing restaurants and resorts on the East Coast Road offer dinners on the sand, sometimes with a stay. For something other than dinner, look for live-music nights, stand-up shows at the Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall and smaller rooms, couples' workshops in pottery, painting, baking and cocktail-making, and sunrise plans on the ECR or at Elliot's Beach. Malls stage Valentine's weekend installations and events. Prices for set dinners rise sharply on the day itself, and tables at the well-known restaurants are booked out early. This page lists Valentine's dinners, concerts, workshops and events for couples, and for friends, across Chennai.
Good to know
- Book dinner a week or more ahead for 12–14 February. Most restaurants switch to fixed-price set menus on the weekend.
- Weekday evenings in Valentine's week (8–11 February) are cheaper and calmer for workshops and dinners.
- For an ECR dinner, leave the city before 5:30 pm. The road between Thiruvanmiyur and Akkarai is slow on weekend evenings.
- A sunrise at Elliot's Beach followed by breakfast in Besant Nagar costs very little and avoids the evening crowds.
- Check age limits on comedy and bar events; most are 18+ or 21+.
