About YMCA Grounds, Nandanam
The grounds of the YMCA College of Physical Education on Anna Salai are Chennai's main open-air venue for both books and big concerts. The Chennai Book Fair, organised by the Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India, has been held here every January since 2013, apart from 2016. The 49th fair ran from 8 to 21 January 2026 with more than 1,000 stalls, and the 50th, a golden-jubilee edition, is scheduled for 7–19 January 2027. Promoters also use the ground for arena-scale Tamil film-music shows: Hiphop Tamizha closed a world tour here on 7 March 2026 and Santhosh Narayanan played on 1 August 2026. Outside event days it is a working college campus with athletics tracks and playing fields.
